Jim Helton has been a runner for over 45 years, starting in elementary school and continuing today.  A runner [countless 5K’s, 10K’s, half-marathon’s, and marathon’s (earning a Boston Qualifier at age 50; 3:22)], and coach [USATF Level 1 and Level 2/Endurance coaching certifications], Jim prides himself in creating programs specific to his clients’ needs. 

 

Retired from a career in education, seventeen years were spent in northern Illinois teaching and coaching where training was based on helping his athletes achieve personal bests; in turn, those enabled his teams to achieve at a championship level, including state championships and all-state runners.  Jim finished his education career in southern IL as a principal and superintendent. Most recently, he started coaching high school cross country and track and field again.

 

Jim/Wife currently call Glen Carbon, IL home. All three of their children ran collegiately, and now they spend time "chasing their two grandchildren!" In addition, every four years (since 1988), the Helton's attend the USA Track and Field Olympic Trials... it is a family affair!!
